Digestive liqueur produced by the basement of Thibar, grading 40 ° alcohol, she concocted herbal medicinal aromatic long macerated in wine alcohol to taste sugar and caramel.
Historical:
The Thibarine production is an old tradition inspired by the fathers for forty years and continues to make such evidence until our days.
The first village of Thibar was probably founded in the 2nd or 1st century BCE. A Roman text makes mention of the «marianum due» meaning: the village of marius Thibaritains (Roman general who lived from 157 to 85 BC)
It was then located at the bottom of the current Higenyi (old Thibar). Supplied with water by the aqueduct coming from the Goraa.
In December 1901 that was found by chance the engraved inscription: "Pagus Thibaritanus", allowing to be certain that it was the location of Thibari.
There were probably a colony of Romans each received 25 ha approximately (cereals in the plain, olive trees on the slopes); the inscriptions and carvings found on the spot show that there were also livestock: cattle, sheep has big cock and horses. The quality of the ruins suggests that it was a fairly rich village (marble, mosaic, Statues...).
The location of a church, the inscriptions of some tombs and statue of the Holy Virgin confirms that there was a Christian community. You can still find writings about Thibari until the 4th or 5th century.
